Long before I taught math exclusively, I taught all subjects. I remember having a poster on the wall with sentence starters for talking about a story that we had read in class. Has anyone done a similar thing to promote the right kind of math conversations? Do you think it benefits students to have types of questions to ask, rather than come up with their own?
