Fact of the day

This article proposes a structured set of lively, brief, daily exercises designed to help children master number facts and mental math skills. Each day's practice focuses on a small, highly focused, manageable, and strategically selected set of facts or skills that builds directly on the previous days' learning. Developing Fact FluencyThis collection supports teachers as they help children develop fluency with number facts in all four operations. The resources take advantage of patterns and number sense, properties, parity, and other connections, to improve retention and transferability. They encourage reasoning and strategic thinking. Several articles and videos suggest specific activities and games that can be incorporated into classroom routines. A unit of lesson plans helps with addition facts and a series of blog entries includes ideas for teaching multiplication facts.
